The media is lying to you about the supposed horrible state of the world, and we swallow it—hook, line, and sinker. While the news focuses on homicides, brutal terrorist acts, and warnings about global diseases, they are only telling part of the story. In this meticulously researched book, J.D. King gathers stories, statistics, and relevant data to prove his point that the world is improving. Written to encourage you during these tumultuous times, Why You’ve Been Duped into Believing that the World Is Getting Worse presents a hopeful view of what’s happening around the globe.

enjoyed it and finished it off in two sittings. As a Partial Preterist, I was expecting the author to mix encouraging statistics with a treatise on a much more victorious eschatology than what most people in the Western world have been accustomed to hearing. After finishing this wonderful book, I was delighted to have discovered a precious "Gateway Gem" that I believe will cause many to rethink their eschatological pessimism and stop superimposing their theological slants and the nightly "news" onto the Scriptures...and ultimately their worldviews. The fact that the author doesn't take the reader into deep theological/eschatological territory makes it even more valuable to many because it is extremely palatable for most readers who have been receiving mixed signals between the Hope Who lives within them and the doomsday messages with which they have been inundated. This book is like a beautiful porch that should cause people to wonder about how much more is inside the Christus Victor House! When it comes to books about "Things Getting Better", I highly recommend this one, along with Jon Ortberg's "Who Is This Man". Both books are written in a manner which will appeal to scholars while being easily understood by children. That factor alone makes them super special in my estimation. If I were to add just one statistic to the book, it would be the number of "practicing" Christians who have left the conventional, Post-313 AD church models for what they believe to be more organic communities that are in keeping with the First Century model. I belong to that large number...and we are growing. Again, this book is an absolute gem! Highly recommend!

I have been teaching the world is getting better for over 30 years. My reasons were biblical and theological. From time to time I would find a shortlist of facts showing how the Bible’s message that light will overcome darkness is true. But nothing compared to what JD King has written. He has compiled a massive amount of material showing how the world is improving. The reign of Christ is advancing around the world. The benefits are not just better church services, but advancement in all areas of society. This book is one all Christians should have. It is filled with hope. It will inspire you. Thanks to JD King for giving this gift to the Church
What a fantastic book by J D King! In a world that is rampant with bad news and negativity, it was great to be inspired with real facts and statistics. Things are not as bad as the media would have you think!
J.D. King was a supporting leader in the Smithton Outpouring in the late 1990s. Since then he has also served as an itinerate speaker, author, and pastor. With articles garnishing over 1.5 million page views and contributions to the Pneuma Review, Charisma Media, and Spirit-Led Woman, King’s writings circulate widely. In addition to writing, King guides leaders at the Revival Training Center and serves as a pastor at World Revival Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He carries an anointing from the present-day revival movement that is transforming the nations.
